The One when Anthony makes his birthday dinner choice.

So the Lakin birthday tradition is you choose what you want Dave and I to make for dinner or where you want to go have dinner. Anthony's birthday is July 8th so we included him in our tradition.

This was his menu: Rib eye steaks, garlic mashed potatoes, corn off the cob, bread with spreadable butter, salad, and an ice cream cake for dessert.

They are always laughing at him. He has the kind of face that just makes you giggle. That's a good thing in case you are wondering T.

See? And he just takes it.

Anthony's birthday song tradition is his whole family, which could be 50 people, all scream happy birthday Anthony over and over and over and over. When Nicole met his family in July and celebrated his birthday with them, they warned her to not be afraid of what she was about to hear.

Ours is we sing happy birthday loud and horribly in wacky voices. He looks like he is joining us!

Are you blowing T? Ya gotta let some air out kid!

I'm really not sure what Nicole finds so amusing... too funny. Maybe she is surprised the candles actually went out based on the previous picture!

The other thing these weirdos do is take the candles out and suck the frosting off of them.

And this one..... I have no idea. All I do know is I heart these kids and I'm glad they are mine.

The One when Picole Juice turns 22! July 30, 2010

Being that this is a post about Nicole's birthday, it is only appropriate that the first picture be of food. Her Facebook friends will appreciate this.


We have a birthday tradition where you get to choose what you want for dinner on your birthday. She chose beef, chicken, and shrimp kabobs. I made some veggie ones for me too. It looks like I made too much but they polished them off!


We started the day with some fun pictures in the front yard...

The One when Jessie Girl turns NINETEEN! August 9, 2010 Part 1

We planned a camp trip (blog coming soon) where we left on Jessica's birthday. So the day before her birthday she wanted to go bike riding at the beach. We grabbed our beach cruisers and headed to Huntington Beach.

Auntie came too, of course!

Jessica enjoyed that her toe nail polish matched Nicole's bike.

Coincidentally, Dave was working down there at the Surfing US Open. We stopped by to get a hug.

Jess wants this Jeep. Looks good on her! She asked her dad if she could just drive away in it. "They won't notice! They have lots of them!"

This is the one Kar picked. Ummm... Are these preferences indicative of their personalities?

Thirsty; we needed a soda!

And..... The Face!

After the beach we went to Red Robin for dinner. She is opening her gift from Nans. She loves her books Nans! "I can't believe she remembered what I wanted!" Uh, Jess? That's how Nans rolls.

Red Robin sang to her and she got her ice cream!

The next day, her birthday, we headed up to San Antonio Lake. That evening we sang to her and had cake! Happy Birthday Jessie Girl. We love you!

The One when we go see some hair bands!

I heart hair bands... yes, I said hair bands. My good friends Laura and Holly heart them too. Nicole happens to be working at the Orange County Fair where guess who was playing; none other than DoKKen and RaTT! She got us tickets to both the fair and the concert! Thanks Picole! The only bummer was Hols couldn't come with us; well we THOUGHT she couldn't come with us!



Oh ya! Heading into the fair! Had to start with my RoCKer face! Hols made me do it!!


Flat Hols! How come you didn't try "The Face" at RaTT?

First stop, Laura's must have; a fair corn dog and a fair lemonade. Did you like it Hols? "YA!"
OK... are ya getting the picture? Laura had a great idea to bring Holly to the concert. It turned out awesome! We took her all over the fair and of course into DoKKen and RaTT! She was actually a little demanding sometimes with what SHE wanted to do all the time! Pretty pushy for how nice we were to bring her in the first place!



This was a Laura AND Jackie must have; funnel cake! The Bomb! Did you like it Hols? "YA!"

We visited the photography section of the fair. Holly is studying photography and loves Coca Cola so she wanted this shot. Did you like that one Hols? "YA!"

Can you guess who's must have this was? Hee hee... Hols liked the margarita too though, right Flat Hols? "YA!"

After a stiff margarita we had to get some fair kettle corn; a must have for all three of us! Wasn't it the best kettle corn you have ever had Hols? "YA!" Well ya got a little stuck to your lip.

This is where she got pushy. She insisted on sticking her face into one of those wooden character cut-outs over in the farm area... geez Hols. Are you done Hols? "YA!"


Dave built the Jeep Ride and Drive track at the fair. If you happen to make it to the fair, visit Jeep and ride the track that Dave built. Hols did it and loved it! Did you have fun Hols? "YA!" Thanks for driving Laura!

Directly across for the Jeep track is the Pacific Amphitheater. The bands were warming up so we listened for a while. Do they sound good Hols? "YA!"

Nicole came on our Ride and Drive with us!

Well... we are finally in the amphitheater and ready for some head bangin! You ready Hols! "YA!" But first.... another margarita was in order!

The show is about to start!!! Whoo hoo!!!!
